Winter Lust List

It feels sorta weird to do a lust list right after the holidays, because it’s like ok, Nicole everyone’s done buying sh*t. Calm down.  But here’s the deal, I had a very un-festive holiday season this year and retail therapy is calling to me.  No I don’t think you should buy stuff to fix your problems but I DO think that online window shopping puts me in a good mood and then gives me things to look at and test in person when I’m out and about.

Also, there are just a lot of really fun things that have been catching my eye . . .and some that have been catching my eye for a while and I think I might finally cave in.

  • Deborah Lippmann “All About That Base” – I think this is going to be launched on the same day as this post is going to be published, which means that I don’t actually have a link to it yet. Sometimes I write posts several days before you actually see them, I hope that doesn’t ruin any of the magic for you lol. (I’ll add a link once it becomes available!)  According to Deborah Lipmann’s site “This all-in-one CC formula provides immediate nail perfecting coverage, conceals imperfections, brightens, primes and fills ridges for a smooth, matte, flawless finish with improved wear.” Yeah I’ll take two, thanks.  I mean in all honesty I clearly don’t know if it’s going to be as awesome as it sounds, but I do love a really good base coat and Deborah Lippmann products rarely disappoint.
  • Deborah Lippmann “Cleopatra In New York” – Speaking of Deborah Lippmann and thing’s I’ve been eyeballing forever . . .well I’ve been eyeballing this color forever!  I love black and gold.  I love dark polishes.  I love nail polishes in general butttt I hate spending 20 bucks on nail polish.  I think I might finally do it though, because I have yet to find a dupe of this one.
  • Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in “Trooper” – OK fun two part story here.  My beautiful friend asked me to do her makeup for New Year’s Eve, and being that I was staying home and watching Netflix anyway, I happily obliged.  She brought the Kat Von D Tattoo liner which I THINK I’ve tried before in a mini size, but I don’t think it was the same because I don’t remember being so blown away by it.  I used it to give her a sassy cat eye look, which is always like diffusing a bomb when you do it one someone else, but the applicator made it shockingly easy even though I’m a little out of practice.  But how did it wear? Well, she went out to dinner and a night club, barely slept and was still having a hard time getting it to come off with makeup remover the next morning.   I think we have a winner.
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer – So she texted the next day and told me how well it stayed on, and like a true makeup nerd I texted another friend to tell her about it.  She answers by sending me a photo of her eye makeup which she hadn’t touched up since the night before, still perfectly intact. Full vibrancy, not a crumb out of place, completely perfect eyeshadow.  Yeah you should 100% always take off your makeup and it’s gross not to, but it was New Years Eve, never judge a girl on New Years Eve, things happen.  So of course I was like “wtf did you use, automotive paint?” and she said no, Smashbox Primer.  So there you have it, I’m gonna need me some of that too.
  • Korres Greek Yoghurt Makeup Wipes – I’m always looking for makeup wipes that are nourishing and effective.  I don’t use them daily but I like to have them for travel, and if I’m going to use them for a week straight then I want them to be nice to my skin.  Part of me thinks the idea of wiping my makeup off with a yogurt wipe is gross, but I also use goat milk cream, so I guess this isn’t any weirder.  I think it’s good to splurge and get good quality  makeup wipes if you use them only occasionally (that way it doesn’t get out of control expense wise) and I’m deifnitely going to give these a try.
  • Real Techniques Bold Metals Oval Shadow Brush – I’m a huge fan of real techniques brushes.  They’re affordable, they work well and they don’t shed.  The new Bold Metals line is slightly less affordable, but I’m happy that they are sold individually.  I often feel like I only wind up using half of the brushes in the Real Techniques sets because certain shapes just don’t suit my needs. Also, I love the handles and the quality seems really on point.  I truly feel like I can never have enough of these types of eye brushes.  They’re great multi-taskers. So this will probably be something I check out in the near future.
  • YSL Volupté Tint In Oil – YSL has a way of being ahead of the curve in lip formulas.  It seems like every year they have some beautiful, high quality innovation.  The sound of “Lip Tint suspended in deep conditioning oil” certainly sounds very appealing to me.  Next time it’s time for a splurge this is definitely going to be at the top of my list.

Those are the winter must haves that I’m eyeballing at the moment.  Who wants to take bets on which one I end up buying first?
